Great night of tasting wines at Pie 3.14 with Jeff Blaum from Amici wines. From the Sauvignon Blanc to the To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon wonderful palet pleasers. Two that stood out included the 2014 Charles Heintz Russion River Valley Chardonnay. Great mouth feel long on the palate from 100% malolactic fermentation and time in oak. Over ripe pinapple and stone fruit. The 2014 Missouri Hopper Vinyard Cab was everything an ultra premium vinyard selection shoud be. Ready to drink with medium tannins and long finish. Blueberries and black currents. Low availability. Lucky to have had some.
Great Pahlmeyer tasting Thursday night. The 2014 Pahlmeyer Chardonnay was a big butter bomb with huge mouth feel. 100% malolactic fermentation ( hence the soft buttery mouth feel) Spent 11 months in new french oak medium toast. Wine spectator rated it a 95. Liquid Art in a bottle for $79.99. Available through Buon Vino at www.bvtexas.com
